TESTIMONIALS ABOUT GETTING REALWhat parents say...
This book is masterful. It's so full of life it jumps out at you. Frank Cordell, USA This
is an amazing book! It speaks hauntingly to the teenager inside every
adult. It helped me to the bridge gaps between me and my own parents. It
also alerted me to the ones that had begun to grow between me, as a
parent and my own teenagers. This book can help everyone make sense of
the Journey. David, a father
I
looked through the book, read bits and pieces and thought it was
fantastic. It seems to cover everything that we need to get through our
adolescence and hence our life. Lee, a mother As a parent and a survivor of child abuse, I'd like to thank you. You've hit the nail on the head. GETTING REAL... about growing up! is
written in a language that teenagers can relate to and understand. It's
the most positive piece of work for young people that I've read. This
book has helped my daughter to believe what has happened to her and to
come to terms with her experience of sexual abuse... and a lot more. Sharon, a mother
What young people say... This is an excellent guide-book for teenagers or parents trying to have a better understanding of their young adults. It creates an awareness of the problems teenagers are inevitably going to be faced with, at the same time it offers solutions to these problems. Paul (17) When I was fifteen, I got depression and anxiety attacks. Life felt so strange and scary. I needed help. I have come through the other side and I believe this book offers guidance to young people who may be struggling for understanding about their lives. Andrea (20) Hey amrita, thank you for your book... I just got it this morning... the colour is great and all the photos look excellent - brings life to it. You should be proud all that hard work...the whole colour photo thing really gives young people something to relate to I think a good approach - makes it hip... Kamisha, 21 Melbourne
Kirsty (15) write this poem after reading Amrita's book. She lived in the same small country town as Amrita at the time.... they never met.
TO AMRITA Your mind is full of love, for young one's like myself. It's as if god sent you as his dove. I'm glad he sent you, because "AMRITA YOU'RE THE BEST." I feel I've known you for many years, even though we've never met. You've shown me how to to smile and laugh, instead of being upset. Throughout my life everything was colour, then it suddenly went all black. But now I've read your book many times, I'm never looking back. That one black sheet has lifted, by this power with which you are gifted. I've seen you in my dreams, you've helped me on my way. I'm not sure of it was you, or your book which you displayed - that every teenager and myself, have a right to live how we like, with freedom, hope and friendship. And the biggest one you displayed was LOVE to be expressed in any size or shape we desire. It takes someone just like you to show that we are equal to every man and woman. It's as though we're running a sequel. Almost all young ones in generations have to go through life's hardships - by such things as parents' separations. But you've shown that we can keep them together by the love that's in our hearts. Throughout my life I've never known someone quite like you - to take the time out from the big bad world and say "HEY YOU'RE ALL UNREAL".
