GROWING TOGETHER

A day for families to get together and have fun!

Amrita was invited to work with a group of home
schooling
families in Edinburgh. Ever flexible she
was delighted and excited to have this opportunity.

The group of families had been meeting for some time even
though they lived in different parts of the country.
They had established quite a strong community bond
and enjoyed getting together.

The group was diverse. The children ranged from three years up to seventeen.
On this particular day a nineteen year old came along to see what was happening.

When invited to facilitate the group Amrita was unsure what the outcome would be.
Wondering what would work in a workshop for a three year old and a nineteen year
not to mention the adults.

There was an amazing flow to the day that surprised everyone.

The venue was a farm which helped.

Time was spent with everyone in the circle - singing, drawing and talking about each family.
There was also family games which created some hilarious situations.

There was time for the children to go off and play with the teenagers. The young man
present became amentor and took theboys into the woods and they got up to all sorts of
mischeif and had a great time.

Parents with teens were able to spend time with them
while the others looked after the littlies.

The parents had time to ask questions and seek guidance.
They were particularly interested in things that could happen
for their sons.

We ate food together and everyone enjoyed the day.

The workshop was for a full day.

We had such a good day and are still talking about it. I've been sparked off with more
reading and thinking.  Other than not interrupting each other and talking over each other,
the other practical thing we are setting up, is to start the 'Boy building' rolling.
We are setting up a 'men’s group’ for all the boys and men to get out for walks and
share male company. Just what I needed at the right time.
There is so much more to think about.
Thanks for everything.
