WHAT
PROFESSIONALS SAY ABOUT GETTING REAL | ABOUT GROWING UP
I
have known Amrita Hobbs for several years and am aware of the
innovative Rites of Passage work she does. I am sure that this
book will prove to be an invaluable resource for young people,
parents, teachers, youth workers and others who mentor young people.
The
information is clear and accessible and there are lots of comments
and real life stories to highlight the issues. I highly recommend
this book and Amrita's work.

GETTING
REAL... about growing up! communicates compellingly to young
people who may be struggling to make sense of their rapidly changing
worlds - both inside and outside.
After
reading the book I realised it had helped me greatly in counselling
troubled teenagers. I gained a clearer understanding of many of
the challenges that they face - personally, in the family and
also the global crisis.
Jonathan, a Metaphysical Counsellor
This
is real information to guide youth through the most important
time in anyone's life. It's good to see such positive input in
a society that often brings youth down... after all they are the
future of the world.
Jacob Baldwin, President, Community Awareness Task Force
GETTING
REAL... about growing up! is a valuable resource. It is a
rich and heart-felt guide to the challenges adolescents face in
this millennium. It provides young people with a wealth of information
and activities for exploring their identities, connecting with
themselves, their peers and their communities.
I
like the way it speaks to young people at their level. It's the
sort of book I would have liked to have had as a teenager.

The
Byron Bay Youth House received a donated copy: Thankyou
from the hearts of young people for your wonderful book. It lives
on the coffee table and is picked up, flicked through, read, poured
over and discussed by all. WE LOVE IT!
Think about buying this book of advice for teenagers and parents.
It’s a book to dip into, to get absorbed in, to talk about
– identity, mind, body, gender, love, relationships, and
sexuality; abuse and addiction; suicide; the spiritual journey.
Amrita offers practical techniques for some of the hard stuff;
for instance, how to forgive. You don’t need to have children
to need this book, as an adolescent is probably alive and kicking
within you.
Parents
and teachers often feel awkward about some of these topics so
important for adolescents, but you need to get real. It is challenging!
Grow up! Read it!
A review by John Allison, Educational Administrator, Sophia
Mundi Steiner School, Melbourne.
I''ve had a read through GETTING REALand wanted to tell you
how impressed I was with it; a very comprehesive range of topics
covered and the writing has just the right balance of informative
and informal, without being patronising.
I
certainly know how hard this can be! I'm writing to see whether
you'd be willing to allow us to use and adapt some content from
the book for the Reach Out! Site. I'm particularly interested
in the rape section.
Marianne Webb - Content Coordinator of Reach Out!
Amrita
Hobbs, the author of Getting Real about growing up! has found
a way to reach the teenagers gives them an understanding about
the natural map of life.
This
resource book offers the potential to heal our historical map.
Let's journey into the minds of the teenagers and discover how
we can heal our own lives.
We
are all standing on the precipice of a quantumtransformation on
planet earth. And we can either check out, or check back in -
in a new way. It's time to get real. I am absolutely amazed with
this book it should be required reading for every teenager in
every school! Congratulations!
