What
to bring
Thank you for supporting this event in your community. Also for
choosing to go for it your own daughter(s).
Promoting the workshop
YOU are the best person to enthuse women,
simply because you are enthusiastic enough about the work to get
a group happening in your area.
Examine
what excites you about the work with the girls:
Is that you didn't get what you needed and would like it to be
different for your daughter?
Is that that you find it difficult to talk about menstruation
with your daughter?
Do you know enough yourself about menstrual cycles? Would you
like to have a closer relationship with your daughter around female
issues? Would you like her to have a special experience in preparation
for womanhood - a day to remember?
Is it important to you that she has a positive sense of her oncoming
womanhood and femaleness?
All
of these reasons are valid for attendance at the workshop and
there's probably many more.
When
you talk to other women about Girls Growing up! you can talk about
your reasons. Follow-up - Please be aware that in most cases women
who express an interest in the workshop require follow-up phone
calls. It is often necessary to remind women that the workshop
is on, calling them back after initial contact. By booking and
paying a $50 deposit as soon as they commit saves you time and
confirms their place. Receiving a deposit usually means they are
committed to attending. This ensures the workshop happens. (Sometimes
women are not easy to pin down - persevere).
Cost
The cost of GIRLS GROWING UP! $150 in
Australia for mother and daughter. (Check with Amrita for overseas
rates).
Grandmothers,
aunts, etc. are invited to attend if they would like to free of
charge.
I like
to work with a minimum group of 10 mothers and daughters and maximum
of 12.
Booking Dates and Deposits
It
can take four to six weeks to bring a group together. I
like to have dates confirmed for workshops with a minimum of six
deposits as soon as possible.
If women organise a workshop spontaneously - if I'm free, anything
is possible!
Please CONTACT
us for banking details.
Please
keep deposit slips (give them to me on the day of the workshop)
and call or email me when the money has been credited.
Deposits
are non-refundable (in certain circumstances they are transferable)
unless the workshop is cancelled for any reason of mine. N.B.
Encourage people to book early to ensure their place and my availability.
I require all finances to be completed with the organiser at the
end of the workshop.
Registration
Write
down the names, addresses and telephone details when women first
called on the CONTACT
LIST that I have included so that we can keep accurate records.
It can be useful to have the list by your phone of all the women
who enquire.
When
a woman books use the BOOKING LIST which indicates when
deposits have been paid and how much is outstanding.
PLEASE KEEP ACCURATE RECORDS OF INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS.
Stay in
contact via email so that I know what is happening.
Give
all details to me after the workshop when all payment is finalised.
Venue
I like to work in a cleared area, large
lounge-room, large empty classroom, school hall etc., preferably
carpeted, but not necessarily. The room needs to be clean, uncluttered
and be warm enough .
Kitchen
We share food so kitchen space is necessary.
Please make sure we have teas, milk etc. available. Drinking water
and glasses close to the room we are working in where possible.
I prefer working in women's homes or Steiner kindergartens.
The atmosphere is usually inviting.
Venue
Costs
If working in a venue for which there
is a large fee this will be partly distributed between the participants.
Please discuss this with me.
On
the day of the Workshop
Women and girls arrival - Please ask
women to arrive at 9.15 am. The day ends between 5.00 and 6pm
When women arrive at the workshop make sure all booking information
is accurate and take the balance of their financial contribution
for the workshop. (If they would like to buy products they can
pay at the end)
Place
all food in the kitchen and be aware of what requires heating
up etc. Ask them to bring candle and candle stick, cushions, gifts
and photos into the workshop room.
What
to Bring
Please make sure each woman who registers
and pays a deposit has a copy of what to bring. (see link and
download) Make sure they are clear about bringing a gift for their
daughter.
MATERIALS CHECK LIST
Organiser to arrange if possible Vases
Crockery, cutlery etc. for lunch Water jug and glasses to be available
near workshop space Plants for workshop space if appropriate Strands
of ivy, which are usually found locally. They need to be long
enough to make a crown for each of the girls participating. DonŐt
tell anyone else about this.... Surprise is good.
Teas and milk Tissues A small pear and the tops of celery - the
ones that have leaves on.
My
personal requirements
If I am flying to your town I like
to be collected from and taken back my destination point wherever
necessary. This may be the airport or another venue.
For
workshops in cities where I am accommodated other than at the
venue site I require to be collected and dropped back to my place
of abode. I have a large box of workshop items to carry.
Please
email or call 0419
336291 me
at any time if you have any questions. Also encourage women with
any doubts or questions to do the same.
Remember: I'm available to give evening talks to both mothers
and fathers.
Evening
talks, morning teas.
I'm happy to work with groups of women
whose daughters are as yet too young to attend the present series
of workshops. Mothers can benefit through talking about their
own experiences of growing up. I suggest ways to approach their
daughters if this is difficult for them. Some preparation can
make a huge difference.
There
are other
programs you may be interested in organising.
Thank
you for your support - without you this work would not be possible.
