GIRLS
GROWING UP
Weaving
magic into the process of growing up.
Leigh organised
groups in Melbourne.
I found it
much more effective when I made personal contact with other mothers
in the school and local community.
It was very
helpful having already been to a Girls.Growing Up!. Even though
I didnt give away too much detail (certainly not the little secret
surprises).
I
was able to convey the specialness of firstly the opportunity
for the girls and mothers to welcome the exciting changes that
take place as our precious flowers slowly begin to unfold.
How wonderful
is the opportunity to have someone who brings a wealth of knowledge
of how to celebrate and honour in a clear grounded but beautifully
nuturing gentle way. Knowledge that has been gathered from other
cultures from around the world right at our doorstep for our girls
and in fact ourselves to deeply and richly absorb.
All of the
feedback from our school was positive, the girls felt safe and
comfortable, captured by your stories which were so full of richness
, colour, and vitality that the essence has been hungrily absorbed
by them and this richness has embedded itself so deeply in these
young girls that it will flow from them and through them for the
many generations to come.
The experience
is also very reinforcing, in a positive sense of everything we
had talked about and discussed at home over the years. But so
much more than just a talk or two or three at home.
Our girls
and mums came away more positive about whats to come , a kind
of excited expectancy about a journey that is now veiwed very
differently by many of them.
I feel very
strongly that these girls are embracing their female creativity
in a much fuller way now. I'ts nice to see. One girl went straight
home and hand made all her cloth pads------- her mother was delighted.
Personally
I felt very pleased and somewhat fullfilled on a very deep soul
level to be able to help bring this opportunity to young girls
as many of us women were left very abandoned when it was our time.
I feel strongly that every girl has the right and should be shown
the opportunity to Honour, celebrate and love the transition from
girl to woman.
